Safe wood?
« on: July 23, 2017, 12:09:08 AM »

Hi, I just purchased a Savic Royal Suite Xl for my chinchilla and am planning to swap out all the plastic shelving. Although my chinchilla has never shown an interest in plastic I don't want to risk him ingesting it! I was wondering what type of wood is safe for my chinchilla as I've read that many types of wood is toxic.

I live in the UK so the only places I can go to get wood are B&Q, Homebase and Wickes. If anyone can link me to any safe wood on these sights then that would be really helpful! Thank you.  :)

I don't live in the UK but I expect white pine is commonly available. White pine and aspen are safe and common building materials. Do not use particle board/press board or board that is painted, laminated, or treated with chemicals to prevent rot.
