New Chinchilla
« on: February 08, 2007, 12:48:05 PM »

My Tina Frances recently died and we got a new cinnamon chinchilla "Cinna Bun".  Well, since the Smokey Jo, the albino ebony has not been eating as well as he should be....do you have any suggestions as to why this is?  Thanks so much...Rachel

I'm a little confused about your post. Did the ebony live in the same cage as the one that died?  Is his cage anywhere near the new chinchilla?

By the way, the correct term for your new chinchilla is most likely Beige  ;)

Yes we'll need a little more info.
It makes a difference if they were cage mates or not as to the possible causes.
Eager to help though, and would love to see a pic of what they call cinnamon.

::silly::Do you know why Tina Frances died?  How old was she?

How long did you know she was sick before she died?  What were the symptoms?

Were Tina Frances and Smokey Jo cage/breeding mates?  How old is he?  How long were they together?  Was he with her when she died?

How much has Smokey Jo cut back eating? 25%? 50%?

How are his poops?  Normal for him?  Hard, dry and smaller than normal? Wet and sticking on everything?  The normal number of poops or less or more than usual?

How long has it been since Tina Frances died?

How long have you had Cinna Bun?  Male or female?  Have you put Cinna Bun in the same cage as Smokey Jo?

Sorry about all the questions, but we need to narrow down the possibilities of what the problem might be for Smokey Jo.   :)
