My new little guy
« on: May 06, 2007, 05:49:52 PM »

Here's my new little guy. He came from Furball Ranch, as a gift/suprise. He's awesome. Took me a week to name him. His name is Jinx and he's 3 years old. My very first mutation. A violet! Woohoo!!! I'm so excited! Can't wait till he warms up to me.

At the ranch.

His First day at home.

He's decided that he likes it here.

::silly::I love that color ... it is so clear and sharp ... many violets looked so washed out or splotchy ... his color is constant and even!  What kind of lighting did you use when you took the pictures?

Handsome little fella ... how much does he weigh?

Awww.. thanks everyone! JoAnn the lighting in the "chin" room, LOL, is fluorescent. Jinx is about 500 grams. They pulled him from breeding because of his size. He has 3 kits right now growing up at another breeder's house. They are so cute! This little guy is so goofy! He really cracks me up. Little personality is really coming out now. He's very, very ticklish.....  :)

::silly::You did a fantastic job on the pictures ... florescent lighting usually leaves a yellow hue.   ::think::

I love the name Jinx!   rofl

He is cute!  Are you going to breed him to a big, blocky standard or big, blocky standard/violet carrier?
Sometimes size can be over come, if you pick-out the right partner.  Just find a female that has not been in breeding before.  Sometimes the seasoned females that have been around for a while beat-up on the little guys.

A major breeder told me the small ones, often are the ones, that produce the best in numbers of kits/litters.

I have a pair of ebonies that are small, but all their kits are always larger than they are.

Aww how sweet congrats, yes are you going to breed him?

And how do you get the ear tags out? Just curious, I have one that had one but just had the hole when I got him.
Wondering how they are attached and how you get them off.

Hey Everyone, sorry for taking so long to reply. I moved again, and didn't have much in the way of internet access. LOL Anyways, for now the plan is to not breed him. He's just a pet for now enjoying his retirement. I have no idea how to get the eartag off Debbie. Poor guy I guess he's stuck with his "earring" for now.
