Quads!!
« on: May 22, 2007, 05:00:56 PM »

Well Kiwi had Quads last thursday.  But she is known to have a runt in every litter.  Her last Hetero Beige runt didnt make it past 3 days.  And her Hetero Beige runt in this litter didnt make it past 4 days despite all our help, supplementing and alone time with mom, he just didnt pull through.
Here is a pic of all of them on their Second day.

::silly::It is so hard to loose a little one ... But ...Sounds like the 3 are doing good ... hope the two smaller ones put on some more weight soon.  Of course sometimes the smaller ones are the spunky ones and end up being the largest of the litter.   As long as they do not fight and break skin, they should keep gaining.   :)

Awww how precious.
It's always hard loosing them, no matter how young they are.
Funny she keeps doing it.
Maybe she's prone to getting pregnant in both uterus and the 4th is too underdeveloped.
Sorry for the loss, but the others are precious. ::kiss99::

Thank you!  They are precious.  i just love watching them play with each other.
They are gaining nice.  The little white one with beige is interesting looking.  I cant tell what hes going to turn into.  Hes a very light beige, so light he looks white but then you can see beige areas.  And next to his white brother, hes definitely not all white looking.
What do you call a white chin with beige areas?  Not a mosaic right?  Would it still be a Pink White?
This part confuses me.

::silly::  Technically a pink white is a white/beige.

The "white" fur, coming from a white mosaic.

The pink ears and pink pads on the feet come from the beige chinchilla, this is also where the beige fur is coming from.

Some refer to them as beige mosaics, but they are classified as a white/beige.

Many Pink Whites show more and more beige as they get older, while others do not.

So how can you distinguish between a pink white that is all white, and a pink white that has some color to it?

I guess my confusion lies with the Phenotype.  I know that all Pink Whites are result of a Beige and White chin, making their genotypes beige/white.  But I always looked at pink whites to be all white chins, with the pink ears, pads and such.  I rarely see pink whites that have mosaic beige spots.  Well, Ive seen them, I just thought that we called them something different, it would make it easier if they had another classification so that pink whites could be considered all white, and the ones with the beige markings could be called something else.

When people are asking me for a pink white, some of them assume they are all white, and are dissappointed when I tell them one of them has beige on them.  So not a lot of people realize the whole pink white thing.
