  YESSS! I finally got one!!! My first Chinchilla!!!

His name is Otis, and he is a Standard Grey male Chinchilla! He is 6 months old, and I got him today. 

Since he's still getting used to it here, I won't take a picture of him just yet. When Otis is a bit more comfortable, I will.

Actually, I went to PETCO in Woburn, MA. It was so cool! I got OTis a cage, a dust bath set, bedding, timothy hay, chew sticks, treat hanger, watter bottle, ramp, platform, food dish, and perch!!!

Make sure you have solid shelves in the cage.
Can't wait for pics and to hear all the antics your about to share with your Otis.

Thanks! Yes, I do have solid shelves. Actually, we took him out to play yesterday since he needed some exercize. The safest room is the bathroom, I s'pose. There's nothing he can nibble on, and nothing he can get caught in. He's very very speedy. And yesterday, he went around mys sister and did this little trick. He banged himself against the tub, and did this little twist in mid-air.

It was so cute!!! 

OK, then i moved my foot the smallest bit, and he jumped on my mom for dear life!!! He even clung to her pants! 

My mom was maaaaad. 

I just cracked up.

That ricocheting around is a good sign, he seems content, and happy to be out for a run.
Most of have used the bathroom, it does seem the saftest.
After I reached 6-8 they got the hall, and now have their own room. I have 24 pets plus a couple of rescues a baby, and right now 6 sleep overs.
I'd better get to work.

Did you not have breeders around you and thats why you went to a petco to get otis?...If you plan to buy anymore I would try to find a breeder. Better quality chins, and you dont have to worry about if their family have any genetic problems you didnt know about. Congrats

That's exactly the reason! He was very friendly to us at the store. My dad went to see what they had, and I asked to come, and so did my mom. There he was; Otis! I had already thought of what I would name him before we went. My dad almost said no. Then he just shrugged and said, "Why not?"  ::shrug::This was what I did when I got home:
