Title: "Whelping" cage question
Post by: BrightEyed on September 08, 2007, 07:44:41 AM
Hey everyone  ;)

I have been looking for a good 'whelping' size cage for when my mamas are late in their pregnancy and for the babies when they are weaned. I have traditional breeding runs and  a custom cage that is not baby safe. I wanted seperate cages for the babies without the runs. I'm having a hard time finding what I'm looking for over the internet. I don't want mesh floor- I want a pull out tray the chins are in directly to save their feet and legs from injury.

Any suggestions?  ::shrug::

 ::silly::  There are several of the ranchers that build and sell "holding" cages/runs that usually come in sets of 3 to 5 attached together ... similar to runs, but without the male run in the back.

Ralph Shoots makes them ... He has made over 40 for us already.  We usually pick them up at a show we are both going to be at, but he also ships them.  Very good quality and at a good price.   ::nod::   He's listed on the Empress and M.C.B.A. websites under ranchers.  His chins are also georgous!

Check out the M.C.B.A. at:  http://www.mutationchinchillas.com/ & Empress  at      http://www.empresschinchilla.com/  for dates and locations near you.  If you have to drive a little, it is still well worth it, when you see how much you learn.

 ::silly::  Great!  Ralph will also be bringing some chinchillas to sell ... his chins are to die for!!!  ::nod::
(He usually has some Blue Cloud Dust & hay cubes with him, too)

Bring a couple few extra cages to carry some new chinnies home ... I'm going to have several (hopefully 10) in a raffle ... separate from the raffle tickets in the show.   Pick-up the raffle tickets for my chins at my vendor's table ... other goodies there also!    -end of commercial-   :)
