I don't know if any out there owns alpacas, but I was wondering if alpaca hay can be given to chinchillas in small amounts? Alpaca hay that I buy has orchard grass, bromom grass and kentucky blue grass and it might have a little clover red or white I don't remember. But I was thinking that if the weather was ever to bad or I didn't buy hay for the chins that if the alpacas hay would be alright? Thanks

That should be OK, I find much of those hays in the second cut we get here.
The first cut is only timothy, and the second cut a mix.
I mix these two together as the chins do like the other things in the second cut.
They love the clover.
I'm sure others have ideas on this subject and will share what they know.
I don't see a problem hay is very improtant to their diet.

Hi,
I gave my chinchillas the alpacas hay and they love it. It is second cut. Heck even our dogs love the hay. Pluss it has a really nice smell to it. Thanks for the info. Shannon
