Hi everyone! Since Lulu has started enjoying her flying saucer, the cage makes a great deal of racket at night when I'm (not) sleeping. I have one of those wire-cages you get at pet-co. It has white wire/aluminum bars horizontally, with vertical support bars every5 inches or so. I had to squish a couple of bars together to fit the flying saucer on them. So, the cage rocks frontwards and backwards as Lulu runs on the wheel. Does anyone have suggestions on how to stabilize it, and/or reduce the noise? Thank you!!! :)

Sorry, I can't help. We just shut the door to the chinchilla room and have learned to sleep thorugh it! NOt the same in a small apartment I"m sure. ???

actually we had the same problem. What we did was to put an aircraft nut on it. This was so that no matter which way they ran, the screw and nut where not undoing themselves. Remember that saying righty tighty lefty losey, well basically charlie was run to the left, and undoing his screw everynight making tons of noise. We also have our chins in our room, for it is the coolest room for them.

We have a chinchilla that has a wheel in its cage. The wheel was very noisy until I placed a box full of chinchilla supplies on top of the cage. The weight of the box holds the cage down so it won't vibrate and this helps with the sound of the wheel.

Is it braced at the bottom? Try sticking some wood pieces under that metal bar to brace it. If it's braced and stable inside the cage, it shouldn't move the cage around very much.
