Hi everyone! I have a strange question. Sometimes Lulu cries out in the middle of the night. I thought it was when she was startled by a noise. I would call out to her softly from bed and calm her down, and her cries would get softer and then stop. This used to happen about twice a month or so. Now, the past week, she cries every night, and not just once, but repeatedly. Once I calm her down and am just about to drift off to sleep again, she cries. This happens about four or five times before she goes back to sleep for good.
It's very quiet in my apartment, so I don't think it's anything startling her. Is it because it's spring? She's not quite a year old yet. Any ideas?? I feel so badly for her, she sounds terrified. But she never hops out of her hammock.

Sometimes they just do that, for no apparent reason

Your apartment might be quiet, but she has super-sonic ears and can hear things going on outside. So, it might not make sense, but there might be something she can hear that you can't. I don't think it's anything to worry about though.

Thanks guys!

Could she be having nightmares?

I don't know. She's not crying every night though, now, and I'm glad! Thanks for the idea, I guess chins dream, right?

I thought chinchillas had basically the same hearing as humans

My Chupers will cry for no reason . He just does it and the dog runs in to check on him everytime lol . Sometimes he does it because he doesnt like the channel the tv is on . sometimes he does it when its passed the time for feeding LOL but most of the time for the life of me I have no clue what it is.

Cheech does it to let me know she's too hot. So then I open the window or put the air con on and she's fine. But if I don't she will continue to cry.
