Hi! My name is Addie. I'm a school kid. I recently heard at my school of 2 chins for adoption. I of course brought in a permission slip. I have read a lot and my mother and sister will help me. I'm getting a lifelong pair of a boy and girl, so old they are prob sterile, they have never had a litter. I am so excited! My mom is going to contact the lady and pick them up.
:::grins:: I just wanted to introduce myself.

welcome! :::grins::
That sounds great!

Welcome. Ask us any questions you like and read up as much as you can. Chinchillas are great pets. :)
You sound like you'll be a really good owner. :)
Just one thing, if you have a boy and a girl and they have not been spayed/neutered always bear in mind you might wake up one day to find more.
How old are they? Chinchillas can live to around 20 years old. ::nod::
Good luck, look forward to hearing more about you and your chinnies soon.

Glad to have you!! :::grins::

Welcome, and congratualtions on your new family memebers!

I have them! Their names are Rafael and Kayla. They are a little skittish, so we are going to set up a playpen so they can meet us without direct, aggressive handling. Their cage isn't very exciting, so we are going to pick up some toys. ;)

And now guess what! I put my hand in their cage with pellets, and Raphael and Kayla came right up and crawled all over my hand, and Kayla ate a little! And also, I can pet them without them freaking out! :::grins::

That sounds great :::grins:: They seem to like you. Before you let them run during playtime, make sure the room is completely chin proof! (No wires, hazards, places to escape) When I first got my Donny, I let him go in the bathroom thinking it was completely safe. There was a tiny space under my bathroom sink and he got in!! No way I could put my hand in, so I freaked out! Luckily, I had a screwdriver on hand and saved my curious chin.
Good luck with your new chins!! ;) ;)

Is Raphael a male and Kayla a female? just wondering if you're ready for breeding ::shrug::
-
two people have already cautioned her about breeding (which isn't a bad thing, so don't get me wrong), but she said in her first post that they are "so old they are prob sterile, they have never had a litter" and they're a lifelong pair.
Anyway, Congrats on Rafael and Kayla, Addie!!! Chinchillas are awesome pets. Take good care of them :)
