Title: Tolit paper rolls
Post by: Stacy on July 20, 2006, 11:00:55 AM
I have been getting this things from Lone Star that are kinda like toilet paper rolls. They come in 3 different sizes and I put hay in them for something to play with. I have noticed that Roo has been eating a lot of it. At first he just chewed and tossed it around but now he eats hay and all. I am just wondering if I should cut back on them. He has a hay rack so he would still get his hay. I am just wondering it eating to much of the toilet paper things is bad for him?  ::shrug::

A little bit of cardboard is OK, but you don't want them filling up on it.  If your chinchilla is truly eatting the cardboard you may want to just give one to him every once in awhile.

::silly::BabyTaz,

     If he fills up on the paper, he won't be hungry when it comes time for him to eat.

   I'd use the hay rack for the hay and not the paper roll ... the smell of the hay is being absorbed by the paper roll and the chin is thinking it is hay, also.  No nutrients in paper towels!

Is he actually eating it, or just gnawing on it? My chins will gnaw on their rolls, but I haven't seen them actually ingest it. They usually just chew it then spit it out. Maybe my chins are just weird....lol!  ::wacko::
