We just bought our new chin one of them huge wheels (its not a flying saucer...they were out. >:()
We've only had the wheel a day so I know he probably needs time to learn how to use it but he wont even get near it. Its like it intimidates him or something.
Anyway, how long did it take your chin to get the "hang" of the wheel?

I would suggest giving him a little time. My Lucien wouldn't have anything to do with his wheel for a week or so. I just left it in his cage, and one day he was in it, running like mad. If he wasn't running in it, he was sleeping in it, or sitting sideways and swinging himself ::silly::

It took one of my chins about 6 months to figure it out. The other one hopped on right away! Jenova gives good advice on another 'wheels' post to tie a raisin to a string and hold it in front of them so they run. use the 'search' for wheels and you'll see plenty of posts about teaching them to use wheels.

::silly:: The string with the raisin does good on the flying saucer wheel, but not on the regular wheels.
Did you try Meadowbrook Chinchillas http://www.chin-chillas.com/ for your flying saucer wheel? Dr. Marty Hull on that site is the one who invented the flying saucer wheel. :::grins::
Some chins like wheels and others do not like them ... just depends on the chin. ::)
