I know that chinchillas aren't supposed to get wet and i was just wondering, what would happen if my girl did? Not saying that she's going to get wet haha i was just curious

Very rarely will a chin need to be bathed. I know one person took on two chins so covered in dust from rust they looked beige (they were standard). I think they gave them a just to get all the rust off of them. They said the water was red from it.
Chins are able to get wet but they have such thick fur it would require a long time do blow dry them dry.

If for some odd reason your chin gets wet getting them dry asap is a must. They can get sick from being wet . They can get too cold from it . I believe I heard somewhere that the thick fur will hold onto moisture and can grow mold . Having a blow dryer handy is a good thing to have just in case.

::silly:: You do not want the chin to chill from getting wet, but you also do not want it to die of a heat stroke from the dryer.
#1 If a chinchilla gets wet accidentally, wrap it in paper towels (they absorb liquid faster and better than cloth), constantly replacing the paper towels with dry ones.
#2 Then cuddle your chin in a towel, exposing small parts to a hand held dryer ON THE LOWEST heat and blow settings.
#3 Hold the dryer about 12" from the chin and keep the dryer moving from side to side, constantly. DO NOT OVER HEAT.
#4 Do this in a small room, such as the bathroom that will keep it out of a draft and be warm enough (with out over heating) at the same time. A chinchilla must be completely dry before putting it back in it's cage ... all fur must be soft and fluffy ... a sign that it is or is almost dry.
#5 You might want to let it play in the room for a little while before taking it into another cooler room.
Ways not to get your chin wet:
1) toilet lid closed at all times
2) no water standing in the sink or bathtub
3) no open drinks in the room when the chin is out playing
4) no water guns allowed in the same room

P. S. You can find spray cans of saline for small areas that may need to be cleaned. This way your little one does not have to be wet all over.

I had a bad time years ago with diarreah and had to wash several of my chins, well did they ever love being blown dry.
It was hilarious how they played.
But unless it was an accident like jumping in the toilet they should never get wet.
If I get some stickiness I use a baby wipe now.
