Title: Closetmaid shelving
Post by: Allyson on October 13, 2009, 09:22:00 AM
I am planning on building my chinnies a bigger cage. I would like to use Closetmaid wire shelving, but I'm not sure if they are safe, their description says "White vinyl finish."

What do you guys think? Would this be OK for my chins cage?

::silly::   I would not.  With the wires the way they are, the antics of chinchillas as they play could easily cause a foot or leg to fall through and break.  Wires on a cage should never be larger than 1/2" x 1".  Shelving is best solid, but if wire is use 1/2" x 1/2" or smaller is best ... for the safety of your little ones.  Just my opinion, along with most long term breeders.
