Long story short, we moved across country wanting to be near family getting older. Also, want to be able to buy a house, something we could never have done in Denver. My partner does Hotel Management and was woooed pretty hard by this hotel here in Charlotte. So, no surprise, he got the job and the salary he wanted. He shows up on his first day and the GM quit. All of the management is apparently new and don't have any experience in that hotel brand. He's the only one and he is highly trained. He was always off to Los Angeles and such for meetings and training, not to mention working for that brand for almost 20 years now.
The hotel itself is a disaster. They are really close to losing their branding license, no one knows what they are doing, and the owners seem to want to do as little as possible to keep the hotel afloat. This is a nightmare scenario for my sweetie and he's so unhappy. He is so depressed every morning when he walks out the door and it breaks my heart knowing there is nothing I can do.
So, taking a shot in the dark, he decided to contact another hotel here that is of the same brand but at a much higher level. He has wanted to work for this more high end part of the brand for some time. They had a listing for a supervisor position that he's way over qualified for but he just wants out you know? Well, they called today and want to interview him tomorrow for a MANAGEMENT POSITION and not a supervisor position! I have been praying hard all day and will continue thru the night and into tomorrow until the interview is over.
Send us all your good vibes and say a prayer if you can! He needs this really bad. He may have been able to tough it out in his younger years but we are getting older and can't do those things anymore! Thanks for lending me your ear!

Oh, Steven,
I hate to hear that he is miserable. Especially after you moved all of this way. And it is no fun being at a job that you hate!! That is why I work from home now. I will certainly say a prayer that this new position works out for him. Let us know how it goes.

Steven,
Please let us know how it goes. Yes, prayer is sent your way at this very moment! I hope you can feel the positive joy I am sending and wish the stress of this situation resolves itself quickly. No more words needed....

Well, Kerry had a really good interview yesterday. He met with the GM for 1 1/2 hours and the Controller for 30 minutes. He said this property is exactly what he has been looking for! Keeping our fingers crossed!

Well guys and gals, after a week of waiting, my sweetie got the call this morning to come down for a 3rd interview on Tuesday. Gosh, I really hope it goes well. This would be about an 8,000 per year raise! That would be just wonderful. It would keep me from taking the risk of working. In the past when I have tried, my MS would kick up and I would just get sick as all get out. "Fingers Crossed"!
Love to all of you!

***MORAL DELIMA***
Kerry's current boss wants him to give a pledge of 100 percent commitment but he's still waiting on an offer from the Crowne Plaza. What to do? We're afraid if he doesn't give the commitment, they will let him go. But if he does give it, then the offer comes in.... and if he doesn't and the offer doesn't come in.....
Not sure what to do. Any advice?

How long do you think it will take to hear back? Can he stall that long.....
-
He's just going to wing it. If he doesn't hear back by Monday, he's going to commit.

::silly:: Sometimes you have to take a chance, but, an understanding boss (future boss) would try to understand the dilemma and give you a little maneuvering room ... UNLESS ... those above him are demanding an answer ... then, he has no choice.
Hope it works out for the best. :::grins:: Keep us posted.
