Title: Can my chinchilla get sick from me?

ok so i'v been sick for the last few days, i had a cold and i also cough a lot, so im wondering if my chinchilla can get sick from me? i did hold him and play with him and kiss his nose, but i never cough or sneeze on his face. So far there is no sign of him feeling sick, he eats/drinks/plays normally, but then i heard from someone in the forums said that chinchilla hide their problems, so should i be worried?

I have read articles that go both ways on this topic.  I choose to consider myself contagious  (better safe than sorry).  When I have a cold I wash my hands well before feeding and handling the chinchillas and of course turn my head to cough as I would with another person.

four years reading from breeders and i have also heard it both ways.. i just keep my mouth away from them.. or if i'm really sick.. i just do what needs to be done..ie feed water... and then leave the room..
