Title: where to buy treats?
Post by: BambiLove on May 05, 2010, 12:33:54 AM
hi guys. I want to buy new treats for my Bambi but i don't know where to buy it. I want to buy things like rose hips and other healthy treats (oh, i also need help with this too, idk any other treats beside oats and rose hip, i don't want to give him raisins or any kind of nuts because it has too much fat and too sweet), can you give me a website to buy it?  I also want to buy him supplement, like vitamin or something that helps with his digestive system, and i have no idea of what to buy. Help please!

Thanks,
Tiennie

I go to the Bulk Barn for the most part.
I use dried cranberry's, mango, pineapple, papaya etc....
I also get my oatmeal and other cereals  there and sunflower seeds.
I get my Vit.c & calcium at Walmart. Most will eat the tablets as is, thinking it's a treat.

They really don't need treats and a chin is healthiest with a quality pellet & hay.
I go more for chew toys , stones & blocks. Parrot toys are great with chew able ropes and hanging blocks.
You can make your own, and even color the wooden pieces.
They enjoy any new thing added to the cage. I try to swap things in and our from night to night.

@Debbie the store is in canada, and if i buy it online i'd have to pay ridiculous amount of shipping fee =[
@Chinclub i love that website, but i only wanted to buy rose hip which is like 2$ and i think 11$ (quality cage only charge me for $9 with the flying saucer which is much more heavier) shipping free just for that is too much.

is there any store in U.S. that i can actually go to and buy? Or website that doesn't charge that much for shipping?

You can buy dried papaya and other dried  fruits at any grocery or health food store.  Just be sure it doesn't have added sugar.

Also, if shipping seems high at Lone Star Chinchilla don't hesitate to email them about it.  Chuck, the owner, is very nice and he might be able to calculate a better shipping rate than the automatic checkout system can.

I buy this conditioner treat from the breeder I got mine from...It has all sorts of stuff in it. And they get 1/2 tsp. per chinchilla...

It's called "NRA Whole Grain Conditioner": A Small Animal Supplement Formulated with Palatable Processed Whole Grains and a Pellet, Designed to Produce Lustrous, Prime, Dense Fur and a Firm, Smooth, Muscular Body.
