Title: sharp nails?
Post by: BambiLove on May 09, 2010, 12:22:58 AM
bambi has very sharp nails, so everytime i play with him he scratches me. it didn't hurt a lot before though, maybe because his nails were short back then, but now it's getting worse and i always have scratch mark all over me...any idea of what i should do? should i cut his nails?
Thanks,
Tiennie

my chin seems to " dig " on some of the wood, and her nails arent sharp at all. kinda funny to watch as well ;). but i looked in a few books that I have on chin care, and there nothing in there about their nails.

what kind of wood do you use RollinEK?
does different kind of wood taste different? because he had a lot of woods chew blocks that people gave to me when i adopt him and he doesnt like it at all. Then i also bought those wood chewing blocks from petstore (for small animals) and he didn't like it either =[ idk wat to buy!!

normally, i think the wood chews are made of pine. just soaked in food coloring for decoration. I know they can have mulberry and apple. I bought 500 apple sticks off of ebay for about $30 shipped. there is a lot of stuff on there for chins. My whole cage is made of pine so the typically, goes to one of the upper corners and " digs "

Hugh...I've never considered the nails on the chin. They've  never bothered us to the point I even noticed them...

I'm not sure if it's just one of my boys or both, but I also have scratch marks all over my thighs.  Not the worst thing on Earth, but it'd be nice not to have the marks.  :) Maybe we just need to teach our chins to dig at their shelves.

You can place a large piece of mineral stone / lava stone in the cage (the stone that use to wear off the teeth), and you can see they will claw on the stone and it may getting better in most case!!
