Reuben and Vinnie have been getting along great until last night. Reuben (hes a few months older and i had him first) started chasing vinnie around their cage after playtime like crazy!! Vinnie was making all kinds of noise and flipping all around trying to get away i covered the hole in the middle of the cage and separated them one on the top half one on the bottom. This morning i tried to put them back together but they still were chasing, and then again tonight. Im afraid to let them out to play! what do i do??

you say one is a bit older.. so have you had them both for quite some time? how old are they? how long have they been in the same cage?
some chinchillas just cannot be cage mates.. you might have to keep them separate.. if they were younger and are growing up, maybe it could be a dominant thing.. not really sure if chins do that, but i do know they can be territorial.

just a thought.. are you sure 100% they are both males.. and not just because someone told you, but because you can tell so you know they are... just wondering if one is a female, then maybe could the male be ummm... well you know...

:2funny: I think we all know 'you know' by now...... :D How many of us have surprise kits? rofl
the more I learn, the more I realize how little I know ::)

Sometimes they just all of a sudden don't get along. I had a male/female pair and one day she decided she didn't want him around and they always snuggled and everything. So maybe they just aren't friends anymore. Good luck.

If you do not know how to sex the chins, take pics of the um...undercarriage and well you can post them here. Also there are many posts if you just search sexing chins in the topic search.
Also here is another spot. http://chinwags.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=618 (http://chinwags.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=618) I got this originally from chinsnhedgies and linked to this site. This is by far one of the best posts for learning to sex chins I have found. As a person in the post says....It hits you right in the eye.
Good luck!

those photos are great! you see, even tho they look very much the same, if you kind of move the one piece up, you notice a space between both sections on the male, where on the female, both sections are right on top of each other.. make sense???

I have see same sex pairs and opposite sex pairs do that. Turn on each other for no apparent reason.
I mean who knows what they talk and fight about. ;)

It happen, sometimes all of a sudden they just don't get along and get territorial. You will have to keep them seperated.
