So I'm trying to get another chinchilla and I've been looking for a bigger cage, but looking at diffrent set ups and whatnot its seemed to me that they usually have my size of cage with two chins.
Right now its dimensions are:
height: 45 1/2"
length: 34"
width: 23"
I'm going to be making new, movable shelves for this one and I'm wondering if i should even bother with getting another cage, if not that would be amazing and i would be able to get the new chin faster which would be great!
please let me know! Thanks :)

Your size is ok for 2 chinchillas :)

You might want to get a spare cage in case the chin that you're going to get doesn't get along well with the one you already have. Some will have serious problem with bonding. They might fight and it can lead to death.

Yes yes, I'll have one in place to put him in, but both are very mellow, sweet chinchillas so I'm not horribly worried.

Just as long as you are prepared with another cage. I have a few sweet chins and no matter what I do I can not introduce them to another chin. Some form a bond with people and never bond with other chins. ::nod::
