Does anyone have this cage to tell me if it is a sturdy cage?
-
i don't have it, but i just want to say one thing, when you load it up with shelves, etc.. it will be heavy to take the top off to clean it.
-
I just clean the cage i have now through the 2 little doors, so thats what i planned on doing this time
-
First off how much are you buying it for is whether its worth the investment.
-
they are asking 160
-
Personally, thats a waste of money. I bought a brand new, not used, a brand new Ferret nation DOUBLE unit 142 for 149.99. There are way better cages for better values than that used cage. If you go to tj's chinchilla site you can get a prevue cage for a awsome price. better cage, more room, cheaper.

I thought that farret cage for $150 wasn't as big as the one i'm going to look at. Or that much bigger then mine. The one used is double my cage now. 5 ft hight, by 3 feet wide by 3ft long, and about 40 deep and long. I don't know the exact size of mine, I have it home. Its i think 7 in under 3 ft hight, and one of the side is 29.
I can do some more looking at the cages later today and is. I do appericate your imput.

Not a problem, if you do decide to go with the Ferret Nation/Critter Nation cages i have found a few modifications that make it an unbeatable cage for chins. The nice thing is it can be sectioned off into 2 cages at any point in time or opened back up any time.

i agree for 160, put the money towards a good cage.

Jhenderson27,
Is ur cage for 145 a:
Single Level Dimensions: 36"L x 24"W x 39"H
Weight: 59 lbs.
or
Double Level Dimensions: 36"L x 24"W x 63"H
Weight: 97 lbs.?
Is that just the cage it's self or the bottom storage rack included?
-
Mine is the FN 142, THey make a 141(single cage) 142(double level) and 143(add on top level). I have 2 of the 142's. They come with the storage rack on the bottom. Its extreamly easy to put together and its a fantastic cage. If you need i can provide some pictures for you. The chins love the setup.

No need for formal names either, Just call me Justin : )
-
justin, could you send pic? Where did you get urs at? I found ur cage online on some website on sale for 200 plus shipping. Ur's is the same size are the midwest farret nation cage from petsmart website that is 230. I'm steph.

on the fn's if you can afford the 142 go for that, because if you get the single unit then add on, it ends up being more money in the end i think.
also, they come with plastic shelves, bassequipment.com has metal pans that replace the plastic bottoms and they fit perfect. as for the shelves that hook, they will need to come out, unless your chin doesn't chew, or if you cover them with fleece.. they are great cages, i also have two 142s and i love them, big,roomy..

I wanted to still go down and look at the cage. I liked it and ended up getting it for 120. She was asking 150. It was 160 if i wanted this smaller cage also. It may have been big enough for a small bunny or if on chin got hurt, but i have tiny cage for that.. Plus now I have there old cage if i ever had to do that. I may have been able to talk her down more but i was nervous and haven't ever done that before or bought from craigslist. The wire's are real sturdy unlike the cage they were using. I still have to make some changes with there new cage. I'm going to take a shelve or 2 from there old cage and put that in there and still playing with where to put the shelves and where they like them. They really like there new cage though. It was easy to set up also. I wasn't planning on getting it because I thought the wires weren't going to be sturdy and what not. It has 4 doors on it also which is nice.
I appericate your guys advice.

I payed 150+tax for my cage brand new. There is a store here in the Rochester NY area called Pet Supplies Plus that will match the best price you can find online excluding ebay/ebay stores. They have taken fantastic care of us and are nothing but polite. I do alot of my shopping there now as they are decent priced and accomodating. We also buy alot from a local chain of feed stores called CountryMax. 25lbs of Mazuri feed for 15 bucks and many other great deals!
-
Wow, thats pretty nice. I don't think petstores here in cincy ohio do that, but I haven't also tried. One petstore has a nutro rewards so I get my dog food there and another store has an oxbow rewards so I get my chins food from there.

I have the 142 ferret nation cage LOVE how the front doors open up and the entire area is easy to clean. But since you went ahead with that one. And don't mind the smaller doors. Then it will work for you. And those looking to get a ferret nation cage. The bass equipment trays as mentioned work PERFECT!
