Title: Wire cage taste good!

Jerry, my standard male, loves to chew on his cage.  I wonder if the metal wire taste good?! :::grins::  Does any one else's chinchilla loves to chew on their cage?

yep my standard male likes to chew on his too I don't think that he likes the taste but he is testing it for weaknesses so he can sneak out or is trying to grind it down to sneak out

 ;D Love that name "Jerry", what a hoot!!!!!!!!!  Very cute.   I can't believe out of all my chins not one chews the cage wire.  But, I have heard plenty of other people talk about their cage wire chewing chins.  I don't think Jerry is alone!

::silly::We have one chin, Cotton, he's the Supervisor of the Metal Works Division.  He can chew a 1/4 inch metal rod in half over night!  This week he destroyed the edges of a flying saucer wheel.  Aluminum is a soft metal and can be easily chewed by a chin.  Look at the edge of the tray below ... see the rod he chewed in half ...  I would not think that it would be hereditary, but maybe, because every one of his kits do the same!  They LOVE METAL!

Dusty Doesnt but all our Guinea pigs do, Their smart, they did it once and we thought they were hungry so we gave them all a little treat and now they do it whenever they want a treat. Its pretty loud when all 3 of them start doing it ;D

Mine don't really chew it but when they want attention they will chew a shake the wire of the cages.

Mine chew it, shake it ,and if that don't get my attention they'll throw stuff around. LOL

Mine do the same thing! They usually only chew on the wire when they are having temper - tantrums. LOL   ;D

n ow since I moved both of mine chew on the cage I still have to build a new cage for them cause the on ethat I had is to big to fit through the door so they are in their 3 story cage I hate that cage
