Title: Kits are chasing each other
Post by: Squirrel_Butt on September 21, 2011, 07:35:49 PM
Hi my kits are chasing each other around the cage, bumping into Raisin. Are they fighting or playing?

Playing/Dominance/Being siblings.

Mine did the same, as long as they arent being overly agressive and putting one away from food you should be all set.

In the event that happens, what do I do?

Separate them while they are feeding.

Ok I observed them doing it again. It didn't occur during nursing. The mother was drinking her water, one kit 1 ran up to kit 2 then ran off then kit 2 gave chase to kit 1. No fighting occured, just lots of chasing each other. Is this play behavior or?

They are either playing or they are simply establishing a hierarchy.
I happened with my 3 kits as well... At 3 weeks old the biggest in weight was literally humping the other two.
Now he always eats first while the others two wait until he is done.
If you don't see any damage (fur balls flying around and if the kits are unharmed) you should not worry in my opinion.

There isn't any humping or anyhting like that.
