Title: Moving Chinchillas and Stress
Post by: Pankakes on June 12, 2012, 12:03:31 PM
Okay, so come this fall (if everything goes the way I hope) I'll have to leave for college, and can't take my chinchilla with me ):
That means my options are to move him into my friend's house for the school year, or find someone who can adopt him permanently.
I know I personally prefer the first option because I will be able to keep my best friend, but it's probably going to be really stressful for him wouldn't it?

I want to cause him the least stress/do what's best for him when I have to leave, so what do you think would be the best option here?

If your friend has a good place for him and knows how to care for him that will be fine.  It would be different if you were moving him back and forth every week, but moving him for an entire school year is fine.  Since you still have the summer you can use this time to get your chinchilla familiar with your friend before he moves to her house.
