Title: More treats.

A recent argument between my father and I consisted of a disagreement over the safety of steel cut oats. I give these to my chin every few days for training. This reward is safe, right?

Oats are generally safe for chinchillas. How many I'm not sure. Maybe less than a teaspoon by volume per day.

I give him like three times a week. It'll be less when I'm done training him. What makes oats unacceptable to be a large part of their diets? The carbs in them, maybe?

Oats can be binding and cause constipation if given in too large of quantities.  Moderation is key to ALL treats.  Animals really do not need the variety people need. The simpler you keep it the healthier your chinchilla will be
