Title: Shows.
Post by: Snickerdoodlesmom on July 06, 2012, 03:24:04 PM
What is it like to show a chilla? Is it stressful for them? Also, do they need a pedigree? What are the categories in shows?

You don't need pedigrees to show chinchillas. It can be stressful for them, yes.
You can find more info about shows on here: http://www.mutationchinchillas.com/

My standard baby is very beautiful. I've gotten compliments from those to whom I've shown photos and on the photo I posted on the forum. Is beauty important?

In a show beauty is important and is called "eye appeal". However if the other things aren't there like blockiness, color clarity and fur that stands up evenly you won't do well. Also the chinchilla must be in their first prime to do well at a major show.
