So I'm switching back to bedding instead of fleece since I just ordered a cage with a pull out tray. I used to use Eco-bedding, but my local pet store no longer carries it. However they now offer Oxbow Eco-straw pelleted wheat straw litter. Has anyone used it? Any thoughts on it?

Have not used this kind.
But, my breeder and I both use pine shavings, if you can find somewhere near you that sells pine shavings, kiln dried and untreated of course, it is great. Pine smells really good too, nothing like a good smelling chinny :) .
I get big bags of this that fill up a 32 gallon tote for $15 per bag.
Maybe check a lumber yard, or there are shops that specialize in things like this.

I looked up the wheat bedding thing and couldn't find anything on it other than it is common to use the non-pelleted kind for horse bedding and that horses are less likely to eat it than bedding made from barley or oats. Since it is made from an edible plant (although it's the stalk) I have to wonder if a chinchilla would eat it. Since it's supposedly 3 times more absorbent than paper bedding which is known to cause impaction in chinchillas I'm a little skeptical.

I used to use pine bedding and paper bedding mixed, but I was just hoping someone has used it :(
Its Oxbow so I believe it's reliable, I'm jut worried about the chins eating it (and getting hurt bc its so absorbant) maybe I should just return it
