Does anyone want to be on the 3rd season of Wife Swap? I received an email from their casting director today saying that for the 3rd season they are looking for a family that breeds, owns, or simply loves exotic animals.
She says: As animal lover myself, I think America could really benefit from seeing a family that is devoted to animals and has a great work ethic. Although we are a “reality show,” we are not out to exploit families or make anyone look foolish. Also, safety is our highest priority, and we will treat your animals as if they are humans. Our show is fun for the whole family and an overall unique experience!
In order to apply for the show, families must have two parents and at least one child between the ages of 6-18 still living at home. If your family doesn’t fit our profile, maybe one of your customers might?
Families selected to appear on the show receive $20,000 from ABC Television.
I am not interested in being on the show but I will be happy to pass along your contact info if anyone on here is interested. Just let me know.

Hi Jamie,
I would like to see the info on the show! I need $20,000!! Our family fits all of the qualifications.
-
That is all of the info she gave me, but I can send her your info and she can contact you with more details. Would you like for me to do that?
-
Well,,,,,,I better check with HUBBY first before I offer us up for national exposure! Thanks,,,,I will let you know.

This is funny....my boyfriend and I were just watching that show yesterday and wondering what it would be like to be on it. Granted...we are not married and we don't have any children..... just "chindren".
The thing is - they match up a family with the most opposite wife they can find. Who would be opposite to a chinchilla breeding wife? Someone that is super rich and owns lots of furs and hates the sight of rodent poops? :2funny:
I would love to see someone from here do the show! For that amount of money, you'd be crazy not to!
-
OK, just let me know.
-
I really thought long and hard about it. Who couldn't use that kind of money. And frankly I was hoping they would swap me with a rich, fur wearing, lady. I can lounge in a mansion for a week and get paid $20,000 to do it!!
But I was just afraid of what it would do to my herd. If I didn't have so many pregnant at any given time it would be one thing, but I don't need some crazy, screaming woman doing who knows what in my chinchilla building for a week.
-
I totally agree, Jamie. I don't know who they would pick to take care of my critters. I only let Jim give them treats. He has never cleaned pans or water bottles. Now...if they were swapping husbands....that would be another thing! haha
-
I agree couldn't let just any one take care of all my baby's. ::silly::
-
I would say they have their work cut out for them, because I wouldn't leave the care of my animals to someone who was the opposite of me either.
They'd be hard pressed to find anyone who will I think, and goodness know I could use that kind of money too. ;D

Maybe you could work something out with the producers of the show where they could have a trained breeder secretly caring for the chins properly in the background? From what you said Jamie, they apparently want to care for the animals well while the "wife" is away. I doubt they would risk the lives of any of the chinchillas. You should see if they would provide background care for the pets?
It would probably be more suitable for someone with a very small scale breeding operation.

I don't belive that they will care properly for the animals any more than I belive they are not out to "exploit families or make anyone look foolish". Have you ever seen that show!! Oh my!!
I saw an eposode not too long ago where the new wife sent all of the animals away. Can you imagine what they would do to a pregnant chinchilla? Most chinchillas in general could start fur biting and then there goes your herd! Not to mention the nightmare if they confused the cages of several standard females. You would never know who was who again.
Maybe if they agreed that no animal was to be touched or moved it would work. I'm thinking it would be better for someone with a very small herd as well. Maybe with pet only chinchillas and not breeders who are more sensitive.
But how much fun could you guys have with the new wife if I were to do it. She would have to come on here everyday and help run the club!
-
Roo and Buddy are just pets but there is no way I would let someone who has no idea how to care for them try. I know my husband knows enough to get by if he had to but all I can think about is if one of them were to get out the new wife might kill them trying to catch them. I don't get mad easy but if I came home and my babies were gone I would really flip. >:(

Yes just think Jamie, we'd get some know it all thinking we were crazy, ya know we wouldn't have the time.
We could hardly wait to tell her how they escape, chew, and spray. :2funny:
What ya think, she'd last with us. :2funny: 10 minutes, to say nothing of when she saw them doing. :2funny:
