Title: barking

When I put Snickerdoodle in his carrier for the weekly cleaning, he was calm for about 20 minutes (VERY unlike him). He barked 5 different times in those 20 minutes (he never barks like that except for when he's asleep and he was wide awake!). Why was this?

When chinchillas become frightened they tend to become still. Maybe he heard an unusual sound or something.

Mine do that when they get annoyed or ticked off (which is everytime they went in the carrier for their cage to get cleaned). They would bark, pee, and tried to open the lock everytime. Thankfully we got a new cage and they can stay in while we clean it out (well we do have to make sure they don't escape if we open the door.) try putting something on the tv to entertain them, which seemed to help a lot with them being anxious.
