Title: behaves like a small child
Post by: totolover on October 03, 2006, 04:51:59 PM
::silly::Let's make a list of how our chins behave like children: :2funny:
Toto never wants to take his medicine when he is sick
He loves to bother me when I am on the phone because he thinks I should be paying attention to him!
He puts everything in his mouth
Begs for treats
If he is scared he clings to me
He likes to climb on me

::silly:: No way does momma chin eat in peace ...
They think momma (chin & human) is a trampoline ...
She makes a pretty good pillow, too ... if you ask the kits.
Just as mommie chin dozes off, one decides it's "poke the brother in the butt" time, then run to the other side of mom and hide, innocently.
They both want the same container of milk, when there are others available.
They tattle on each other to momma.
Just as their human parents doze off to sleep, they decide it's party time! ... as the metal dish flys across the cage and scares all the other chins in the room, so they all chime in with warning calls and you jump out of bed because you just know some wild animal must be trying to get into their cages.  (Of course by the time you make it to their room, and are wide awake, you realize no wild animals can get into the house.)  :D
But, now that you are awake (and can not possibly go back to sleep), you may as well join in the fun and watch them play. ::)

Once you think you have finally chin-proofed the room they will find the one area you forgot.  Then, even though they have an entire room to explore, they MUST keep going back to the one spot they have figured out you don't want them in!!

They poop on me and don't know the proper place to pee either!

Someone should invent chinchilla diapers  :D

::silly::Chinnie Diapers!  Yes, I agree!
There's no controlling the poop pellets, they are never ending little "presents" they leave for us.
Now on the peeing ... if you are holding a chin and it starts to wiggle and seems to want down ... this is usually a sign they need to go tinkle and don't want to do it on you.  Then there are those who seem to do it for the fun of it, 'cause they know you've had a shower and just put on clean clothes!

Another Kid Trait ... they love to comb your hair and snuggle, just like a child.  ::nod::

I say all the time that Roo acts just like my son. When he don't get his way he will throw a fit.

I've never had one pee on me....I was more referring to the issues we're having in our cages right now.  Both my guys seem to have decided the bottom of the cage is too far away and they just hang their bums over the ramps to do the deed.....it's so frustrating!  It sprays all over.  I have covered every inch of their floors with something solid...I dont think I can do that with the ramps too!  :flames:

These are very funny! :2funny:
I forgot to add that he is afraid of the vaccum sweeper and ususually begs for treats when I am eating something. He has pooped and peed on me but hasn't started snuggling alot or grooming me. I have had gerbils that groomed me!They are like little kids in that when you tell them no they do what you don't want them to do any way but they are soooooooo cute, aren't they? Chins are the cutest animals in the world. ::silly:: ::silly:: ::silly:: ::silly:: ::silly::

I have a few like my son too, you can tell them until your blue in the face. They still seem to have trouble understanding.
Just like my son, some seem to want to eat me out of house and home. The big difference is the chins will eat the home, the son just everything in it. ;D
And no matter how many times I told them all to get home, they all drag their feet, and want to stay out later and later. :2funny:

;)At least human children don't eat woodwork and they are less likely to tear up your wallpaper. But chins like don't want to get back in their cages just like children who don't want to come home after playing outside. But I wouldn't trade mine for the world. he drives me crazy but I love him!  rofl

::silly::Ha!  True, but chins don't have class rings, collage tuition, drivers' license, cars and spring vacation!
I started to add medical and dental bills, run away from home and late night parties, but chins do have those, too!  ;D

I think they all understand, they just pretend not to.  rofl

I agree!

Maggie knows to stay away from the doorway but she will see how close she can get to it. We say Maggie! and she'll stop and look at us... then sprint as fas as she can towards the door and then stop and look at us again. Occasionally she'll make a break for it but usualy when we say "NO" she'll run back towards us.
