Since we moved Cheech into our bedroom I've noticed something: As soon as we go to bed he does his crazy chinchilla thing and throws all his toys around, attacks his ramps and generally makes as much noise as he can. Now at first glance this may have an obvious answer, that chins are nocturnal and he is more active at night. However, it happens as soon as we decide to go to sleep, whatever time. Sometimes we turn the light off, sometimes it is already off because we've watched a film in bed, but sure enough, as soon as we lie down he's off. And tonight we're staying up all night, it's 5am over here and he hasn't started jumping around yet.
So I've come to the conclusion that he does it just to annoy us and I wondered if any of your chins had any similar habits. :::grins::
Oh, and having a chin in your bedroom = not a lot of sleep. rofl

LOL Ours do that as soon as the light is off and the tv. But thing is that all 15 are in the bedroom with us. Some time in the next few weeks they get thier own room. I am happy and sad at the same time.

I was just thinking about that last night. Time I lay down Taz is going crazy making as much noise as possible, but Roo starts on his wheel at about 7 pm and when I go to bed he will still run but not as hard. All 3 of mine are so different. Buddy never makes that much noise, Roo up until I do to bed, and Taz all night long.

::silly::Jenova, maybe he's wanting you to play ... being patient while you are awake ... waiting ... but once you turn everything off, he knows you are not going to play and gets ::tickedoff:: , so he throws a tantrum. ::) He has a "captive audience" ... even if they are trying to sleep. :2funny:
Maybe, if you get him out to play for a few minutes, just before you go to sleep, then put him back and tell him night-night ... that might work.
Leaving a radio or the t.v. on all night might be another solution.

Yep, each chin is different ... and some more considerate than others. :D

You're braver (or more a sound sleeper) than I am!!!

A few of them chew on the wood at 3:30am when my husband leaves for work.

Well not to much more I hear a little noise and go and look at everyone some times.

Mine do the exact same thing....we turn off the lights and it's their signal to go nuts! It makes me smile....I don't feel so bad about leaving them in the dark this way.
I also notice if we are up all night, even if it's dark in the living room, they sense our presence and act normal. It's only when we actually go to bed that they go crazy.

Well that's too funny.
I just had a customer tell me about one night while her chin was out for his run in the bathroom.
The phone rang, out in the other room, so she darted out to get it, closing the door, and turning off the light behind her. Well she said he started barking and squealing, she flicked back on the light and he stopped. She got the phone and went back, he finished his run and all was well.
We figure he likes the light when he out. ::nod::
