General Chat / Re: What kind of chin?

She is a beige mosaic.  Mosaics come in many different patterns!  The other two are either beige mosaic or regular white mosaic even if they have no markings (the difference is if they have a beige or standard gene in addition to a white gene).  Sometimes beige mosaics are called Pink Whites, they have their own section under whites at a show.
While mosaics in general are quite common, the half one color/ half white pattern isn't super common but I probably wouldn't say call her rare either.  I bet she's a cutie; I would love to see pictures. :)

« on: April 29, 2011, 08:32:47 PM »
Hey everyone, I have a website with chinchilla care, toys, and directory of where to find a chinchilla.  Well I just remodeled the directory page since it was outdated and am need of current breeders and rescues to list.  It is FREE to be on the list, and if you sign up before may 3rd and put the forum name in the add info I'll add you to the upgraded listings on the nifty map.
Here is the page for the listings and examples on the map: http://chinchillacity.com/chinchilla-breeders-rescues/
And this is the sign-up page: http://chinchillacity.com/directory-submission/

Q & A / Re: How hot is too hot?

I think 72 is ok so long as the humidity is not super high.  I would not go much over that though.  I think humidity is a big factor.

I think the most important thing you can do if you are going to use anything items than wood is to check the items daily.  My boys have had fleece hammocks and usually leave them alone but last time I cleaned the cage, I found a hole that had been chewed (seems are sewn on the inside).  It has happened a few (maybe 3) times in the 7 years I've had them and no problems but I am not sure if I'm going to give them another one.
