Q & A / Oatmeal Question

I bought some kind oat mixture from chinworld.com. It has the long skinny oats and oats that look like oatmeal. Pikachu picks out the oats that look like oatmeal and will not touch the long skinny oats.
I bought another oat mixture from lonestarchinchilla because it looks like it had a bunch of the oatmeal that he eats....I got it in and there is none. Mainly just the long oatmeal that he didnt touch.
My question is....where can I get some SAFE oatmeal that he will actually eat? Is there some that you can buy from the grocery store that isnt bad for him? Thanks for ya'lls hep!!

We orginally bought scented dust but have been told that it is bad for chinchillas so we switched to the "Blue Cloud" dust from Chinworld.com

Chinchillas should get timothy and alfalfa in their diet. Timothy is a true grass hay but alfalfa is actually a legume in the pea family. Alfalfa is much richer in vitamins and calcium than Timothy. With that said, both do not need to come from your hay. If you read the ingredients in your pellets the first or second ingredient should be either alfalfa or timothy. (most feeds are alfalfa) Typically you should feed whichever isn't in your food.
It is important to limit the amount of loose alfalfa you give a chinchilla because too much can cause urinary problems in some chinchillas.

I have the Mazuri food which has alfalfa meal for the first ingrediant.
Should I do away with the mixed cubes and just give him the timothy hay since you said that too much alfalfa can be bad? I just dont want to screw up.

We got hay cubes that have timothy and alfalfa all mixed together in one cube....I know some chins prefer the loose timothy hay and I have some of that too just in case....but are the mixed cubes good enough to give alone if he likes them more???
Another question: I know Timothy hay is a necessity, but what benefit is alfalfa hay to the chins?

General Chat / Sqeeky Toy Sound?

DH said that he was watching TV today and Pikachu started making noises that sounded like a dog squeeky toy. DH looked over and Pikachu was in his normal sleeping corner, which is facing away from DH so its not like he was begging for attention. The dogs werent around either. Any ideas what he was chirping about? (and is that even what ya'll consider "chirping.")

I have heard chinworld.com is a great place to buy your chin supplies versus the local pet store. (or is there a different place you guys suggest?)
I am a first time chin owner so I am still learning and need all the help I can get...help me decide on what to "add to my cart."
I only have 1 chin...so please give me suggestions on what to buy. Example: what kind of food and how many pounds, whether to get alfalfa cubes or timothy cubes or both or the cubes that have both mixed in. Also, which treats you buy from the sight, suppliments, oats etc.
Tell me what you buy and how much/how often you give. ANY and all tips are greatly appreciated.

We just bought our new chin one of them huge wheels (its not a flying saucer...they were out. 
)
We've only had the wheel a day so I know he probably needs time to learn how to use it but he wont even get near it. Its like it intimidates him or something.
Anyway, how long did it take your chin to get the "hang" of the wheel?

My question is: What are some good, safe toys for chins? I read somewhere that bird toys are good but I would be scared that he would chew the plastic and it would harm him?? I have also seen pics with toilet paper rolls, string, etc in the chins cage to play with. Is that safe for them to chew on??
Right now, all Pikachu has in his cage to play with is his wheel (which he hasnt learned to use yet because we just got it about an hour ago) and some chew blocks. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
P.S. do the chins really get on them chin swings? They look like they would be too narrow for the chin to "swing" on?

I noticed a couple of "turkey feathers" on Pikachu today....on his right side. (atleast thats what I'm thinking they are ) Is there something I can do to prevent this or is it pretty normal?
We havent even had him a week so still learning.
