i know around here they have pine and birch dowels and on the web too?  [we hve home depots and lowes]

i dont know anything about pine dowels..sorry
jean

Seeing the issue at hand is regarding Oak ,I don't see an issue and FYI Lowes sell's only Oak dowels(No other type listed) from "Madison" same with their online, as per their wider ones are listed as other hardwoods not listed type's. Regardless though they don't list what type of Oak the dowels are made from which I'm currently searching for the answer too.

It can happen even if you are not mating since male chinchillas do extend their penises for cleaning and other things.  This gives the chance for fur to to stick to the area and eventually cause problems.

Does any one have any advice how to handle this with a 5mth old that cant stand being still unless sleeping any trick of the trade for say to help get his job done right(besides one person holdem and other preforms the check/removel)?

"Males need "hair ring checks" every month. That means you have to forcibly extend their "manly parts" to check if there is a build up of loose hair around it. Hair rings can be very painful and sometimes even fatal, so checking is a necessity!"

Is how I understand what you have to do if you mating your mail chin, but does this need to be done it you only have a male chin?? My under standing from multable chin books I own is you only need to do that if mating them only.. Just want to make sure before it's too late for my little boy(Just turned 5mth's old, owner ship almost full mth)..
