She is not in any pain and they are not sore, but I just wanted to make sure I was doing all I could to make her feel better. 
and since she was only a baby well, you get the idea. My questions is-will her ears ever heal completely and is there anything I can put on her ears to help the healing process? I feel so bad for her that she was abused this way, she is such a sweetie with us. Oh, she will let us touch her ears a bit, so I'm guessing no pain or anything like that, it just looks so pitiful 
so I thought well I'll give it a go. After playtime that night 
I introduced toy to Lucy. She likes to perch on top of her house so I put the toy there and watched. Lucy hopped up next to her new friend (who I have dubbed Ethel) and she put her front paws over Ethel and pulled her in close and at first I thought she was chewing her but on closer viewing Lucy was grooming Ethel!! She tucked Ethel under her, closed her eyes and began to drift off to sleep - 
it truly was love at first sight! I have kept a close watch on Ethel and there are no chew marks or pieces of her in the cage so Lucy has decided this is a snuggle buddy for sure. It is so cute to see Lucy in her house with Ethel all cuddled 
so I must behave 
and her version of giving me the bird. Yes, I do believe that is what she is doing when she takes her little paw and swipes it across her nose in slow motion. Gotta love Lucy!
We had an early heatwave and I know the chins do not like it too warm. The temperature has since become more springlike for our area, and Lucy has adjusted. Yes, we have tile on top of her regular shelves, just to keep her cool and comfy - she even has tile under her sleep hut so that she will be cool during the day when it's naptime. Fresh water always available. We have also discovered that she does like to play hard to get. Open cage door and she comes and then when you put hands there for her to come out - 
zip back to hidey hut. Close door and boy does she come back like hey I was just kidding take me out to play please! And hooray she is finally using her flying saucer. Took her almost two weeks to try it and now she runs like a pro. So cute!! Thank you again for advice, thankfully she is healthy and happy chin and I am just nervous first mommy want everything to be perfect (or close to it) for my Lucy .
Pretty much every night we take her out to play. She gets about an hour or so of playtime, running, jumping, tubes to run through, humans to climb all over. But for the past couple of nights, suddenly she doesn't want to come out of her cage. We open the door, call her name, try to coax her out - and she plays hard to get. Or runs back into her house. If she comes out close enough, we will scoop her up and give her playtime, and she will play, but then after about 30 minutes or so she sits in front of the cardboard barrier and gives a little I guess you would call it whimper like she is asking to go back to her cage. Is this common behavior? Because before this, if we didn't let her out of her cage for playtime she would gnaw the bars and basically give us dirty looks and whine to come out! Is she messing with me? Did we do something wrong? I feel like a bad mommy 
I know she is playing hard to get, but I am feeling guilty that she is not getting playtime.
Tonight I came home to find that she threw (yes threw) one of her tile shields out of the cage. So yeah, thumbs up to thumbs.
and also running through the tubes we got for her. 
she just cracks us up with her silliness.
My baby chin was in my arms and I was putting her back into the cage when she decided to take a flying leap and bam right into the cage bars, ricochet back into me and finally into cage. She was ok, but boy did I get the look like hey ma thanks for letting me whack my head! I think all animals have misjudged and gotten a head bump. I also have degus and one day one little guy decided to jump onto me when I didn't expect it and we bumped faces. Fine for me he has little head, a little more bump for him into me! So I hope your chin is ok and just remember sometimes we hurt more for them because we love them so much
