Q & A / BITING?!
« on: June 09, 2010, 02:19:42 PM »
Well, Max hasn't bit me yet but he likes to chew on my pants lol. I try to move when he does because it makes me nervous.
Do chinchilla bites hurt?

I have medium pain tolerance.

I have broken 3 toes at the same time and didn't shed a tear so I guess that means I have a medium pain tolerance? lol

So has anyone experienced a chinchilla bite, that knows first hand whether or not it hurts?

I could not even finish watching the video.

My boy Max is a standard grey, and looks exactly like the one the stupid low life guy in the red shirt was holding.

It's just terrible how people treat animals these days.

Honestly something needs to be done about this "fur" issue!

I really love feeling Max's fur, but under any condition would I want to wear it! Or slaughter any living animal to wear their fur!

Q & A / Re: Bonding Advice?

When I first got Max, I would sit in the middle of the room with his pellets or a treat in my hand and just ignore him and play with the treat that was in my hand. He would come up to me and I would put my hands behind my back and switch the treat around. He'd run around me and soon started to jump on my lap :)

Well I have a treat jar for my boy, and when I shake it he comes running to me (HOW CUTE!).
Inside there are raisins, dandelion drops (treats I bought from a pet store that were recommended to me) and original cheerios.

I usually give him 1 raisin (split it in half and give him one half at a time so he feels like hes getting two lol), and he gets to pick his last treat usually its the dandelion drop.

Q & A / HELP ON HOLDING!??!?!?!
« on: June 08, 2010, 08:18:09 PM »
Okay, so about 2 months ago I got Max :)

Now he is very use to me: lets me pet him, he eats out of my hand, sits on my lap, anything you can imagine lol.

BUT... I am having trouble trying to hold him. The last time I held him was 2 months ago when I first got him (the previous owner put him in my hands).
I haven't ever tried since then, because I didn't want to pressure him. But now since he is used to me I would love to try.

SO the question is... how do I pick him up "correctly": Some people say that you should pick them up by their tails, but I find that very cruel and it looks very uncomfortable.

Please help! I would greatly appreciate it.

Q & A / HELP PLEASE!
« on: April 19, 2010, 02:53:38 PM »
Okay,

So I got Max on Thursday. He's giving me mixed signals! He'll jump on me and let me pet him, and then sometimes he'll bark when I try to touch him!
What is going on?!?!?!  ;D

Also, one time he like made this loud sniffle noise at me... what is that?

I'm always around him I cleaned his cage twice already he gets new water 3-4 times a day and he has EVERYTHING like I spoil him to death and I haven't even had him that long. But for some reason he's hot and cold with me.

HELP!
