If you can, please send me an email (info @ chinchillaz.org -- without the spaces) and we'll see what we might be able to arrange.  :)

*laughs*  Unfortunately, I had this up here since May and even put a reminder up in the beginning of July.  I've already been to California and am back.  I have no plans to return unless the buyer would like to pay for gas and other travel expenses.  If you're interested in that, let me know.  Otherwise, if you'd like to come out to Arizona and pick up the girls, feel free to let me know.   :::grins::

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'll be heading to Colorado anytime soon.  I had been hoping to go out next month, but plans have changed.  I apologize.

I'll be driving out to Garden Grove, CA, in two weeks.  Now is the perfect time to have some of these guys delivered as the fee will be greatly reduced!   ::silly::

At this time, I have decided to take a break from breeding chinchillas. After nearly five years of dedicating my life and energy to improving the quality of chinchillas, I will shift my focus solely to educating individuals about chinchillas and their care. Additionally, I am looking to relocate in the near future and feel that such a move would be best done without so many animals. At this time, all of my breeding pairs have either been rehomed or have been separated. The chinchillas listed here are the only chinchillas that will be available from ChinchillAZ.org for an undetermined period of time.

If you are interested in purchasing any of the available chinchillas listed below, please contact me with any questions or concerns. There is much more information (including dates of birth, breeding information, etc.) at http://www.chinchillaz.org.  All of these chinchillas are paired with a chinchilla of the same sex. These pairs allow for each chinchilla to have a buddy to keep them company throughout their lifetime. The way I look at it is this: If you already have a chinchilla that you are wanting to get a buddy for and I sell you one chinchilla and that chinchilla doesn't get along with the chinchilla you already have, you are stuck with two chinchillas in two separate cages for the rest of their lives. I'm not willing to make one of my chinchillas live alone forever when they get along perfectly with another chinchilla now.

Prices are GREATLY reduced but may be negotiated within reason. Cages of various size are also available at this time. These cages come complete with feeders, Edstrom water bottles with cage guards, wooden houses, and toys. All of these items are used.

Delivery is available within Arizona and may be possible to Southern California (specifically in mid-July), within New Mexico, to Western Texas, and up to Southern Colorado.  Shipping is not available at this time, as the weather conditions are not hospitable at this time.

Kieran and Trey - Dark Ebony and Tan White male

T15 and T16 - TOV Ebony and Ebony male
T15 is a Second Place show winner and T16 is a Third Place show winner.  Both chinchillas will come with their ribbons.  T15's sire is also a Second Place show winner.
Price: $100 for the pair

Health / Re: help my chinchilla is bleeding

When we have to run from forum to forum to see what is going on with this chin makes it alittle harder for us to help you.......seems this chin was pg. and you did not tell us this.  When I found this OK, so it seems that she miscarried then. Why would you leave this out? It would have given us more of an idea of what was going on.

I am confused......

As am I...  But, if I'm piecing things together properly, it sounds like the original poster also posted on another forum and provided more information, including the fact that the chinchilla was pregnant.  Billydkd is saying that, if the original poster had mentioned the pregnancy factor, it would have helped those of us on this forum to provide some insight into what was going on with the chinchilla.

Scented oils and candles should not be used around chinchillas.  The aromas can cause severe problems with their respiratory systems.

Q & A / Re: Chins and cats
« on: December 29, 2007, 03:30:01 PM »
I work in an animal hospital and yes it is true about cat bites and scratches. A woman I work with was bitten and ended up in the hospital for 3 days with blood poisoning. You can get that in many different ways I believe.. just know any kind of scratch needs cleaning or possible medical attention.

Exactly.  I was speaking more as a veterinary technician (which I am) and less as an animal owner. :)

General Chat / Re: A moral dilema - I really need some advice.

As a breeder, I wouldn't allow anyone, including other breeders I trust, to bring their chinchillas to interact with my chinchillas.  In addition to all of the illnesses that can potentially be transmitted, each herd of chinchillas has bacteria that is unique to their GI tract.  The quarantine period allows for the slow introduction of this bacteria over time also.  Another danger in having an Experimental Play night is the potential for serious injury.  As we all know, chinchillas can and do fight to the death.
