OK, thanks everybody for replying!!

The woman who told me to give the chinchilla one raisin a day was obviously wrong!

You really should free feed your chinchilla, 2 tablespoons is not enough for a grown or growing chinchillas. Chinchillas will not over eat, Plenty of fresh water, plain high quality pellets and Hay.

Oh ok so just put in more once I notice their food bowl is empty?

General Chat / Chinchilla Years?
« on: July 28, 2011, 02:09:10 PM »
 Hi all,

I was curious as to know if it was possible to calculate Chinchilla years into Human years and vice versa? I have never found an internet site that tells you how, only dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and even mice! ;D

Thanks!

Well I don't have one yet but when I do (if I end up getting one) I plan on using the hallway, laundry and bathroom. Our lounge isn't the best choice, too many things that might be dangerous to them, even when it's chin-proofed. So yeah, probably just that.

A wheel eh? Well I guess they'll use it, hopefully it wasn't a mouse-wheel, that could get interesting...

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to spoil your little fuzzball? Like, putting in lots of toys and objects in their cage, letting them do what they please, (unless of course it's dangerous) and giving them their favourite treats (but not ones like raisins, obviously)

I wonder if it is possible  :::grins::

General Chat / Re: Chinchilla Names

Hi again

Thanks for all the replies. I've narrowed it down (kind of) and found a couple of names I really, REALLY like. Here are the finalists:

Baxter, Duncan, Riley, Joey, Choco, (not too sure about that one) and Cliquot (pronounced Clee-ko)

Please tell me your favourite(s)

Thanks! ;)

General Chat / Chinchilla Names
« on: July 26, 2011, 02:20:17 PM »
Hi all,

I'm still trying to decide a name when I get my chin. I prefer a human-pet name, but any names would be appreciated. Something original too, so not ones like Fluffy. He'll be a male.

So far I like these names: Clyde, Clayton, Duncan, Dustin, Fuzzball, Dunstan, Baxter and Riley.

Thanks!  ;) :::grins::

Health / Re: Help - Chinchilla has growth under chin?
« on: June 03, 2011, 07:14:20 PM »
Well, I'm no expert, but from having rabbits etc in the past it doesn't sound too good. I assume that you have a vet? I would take it for a checkup. Just to be on the safe side. If it is something, I'm sure the vet can sort it out. :)

Hi there

Looks like a tumour to be. Well, it could just be an extra flap of skin. Is it lumpy?
