 ::silly:: hi

this is chinsgrandma's daughter. i think that the idea of a wooden shelf play area is really neat. my chinny Cheerio would really love something like that but i don't this i would have the room to have something big enough for...because she is very jumpy and would want something HUGE!!!lol

WOW - that's really cool!  If we had space in my daughter's room where Cheerio lives I would definitely put in an order for one.  We are in PA too, Plymouth Meeting. Her walls are completely used up.  Cheerio has made her own play structure in the room, she goes from shelf to shelf to desk to chair to bed, runs down the footboard, and does the cycle all over again.  What kind of chins do you have?  One of them look like ours, she is an ebony.

Great thanks!  Here is my next question - she never received her activation email.  I suspect this is because she has parental controls on her account.  Can you tell me what email address the activation email would come from, so I can enter it in her address book and hopefully this will allow her mailbox to receive it?

Technical question - can a second person participate on the board, with a different name, from the same computer?  When my daughter logs onto the website under her own screen name the board comes up with my welcome message on top, so there is no option for her to register as her own user name.  Any suggestions?

Great!  I will let her know, she'll be thrilled.  I am not sure what name she will choose yet, but she's 12, and I am sure she will pop up on here later today after she gets back from camp.

She had said since I was "chinsgrandma" that she should be cheeriosmom but I told her I couldn't quite deal with her being anyone's mom!!! :o

Thanks for the welcome mat!

So when the ears are so minimized, does he/she have a harder time cooling off, since the ears serve as their "air conditioning"?

Board Requests & questions / Kids Forum?

Hi Joann & all,

I have been participating in the chats regarding my daughter's female ebony, Cheerio, and was wondering if young people are allowed to post on the boards or not?  If not, maybe we could start a separate forum for the kids to talk about their pets but also be able to ask questions regarding their care to the older/more experienced owners?  She has been intrigued by my participation in the board and I thought she would really enjoy it if she could join under her own name.  What do you think?

Yes!  That is fine by me!  We are not going to be breeding at any point but I find it all interesting to read.

When I got her from the breeder, she said that Cheerio was a "pet quality" chinchilla.  Does this mean that she is "unable" to breed?  I know it drastically lowered her price, which was great because we really loved her and would bring her home regardless of price, but I didn't know they were classified in different categories like that by breeders?

Ok, I have a question!!

I went reading some of the other subjects and saw a few comments about a "nice neck".  In my unprofessional opinion, Cheerio does not HAVE a neck.  Do other chinchillas have a "defined" neck?  She is one big fuzzball aside from her tail!  See here?  NO NECK!

I for one would love to see a photo of Joann's chins that have no ears!!!  I can't imagine what this critter would look like!  I thought Cheerio had big ears but this guy looks like he beat her out.  This is the best ear-shot i have of Cheerio.  Her ears look like paper folded into cones.  She is my daughter's chin, and my daughter takes a ceramics/pottery class at summer camp.  I told her she should make a model of Cheerio, the ears would be fabulous in clay!!

The photos I am putting on ARE resized!!  I used the photo editor in Microsoft but they still come out big.  I think Cheerio just wants to hog all the board space, that's my theory.  Have to get a good dusty photo of her to post, she looks like Ghost Chin when she comes out of there!

ACK!  That's what she did to me the other night.  She was dying to get on my daughter's dresser and that was the one place we wouldn't let her go because she had clean laundry stacked up there and Ms. Fuzz was all covered in dust.  But she got up on my head (she has figured out that my daughter is not tall enough) and I felt her two back feet catapult off my head.   I am SO glad they don't have claws!!!!
