Grey ears, black eyes.  The ebony color is accumulative so if you breed a light ebony to another ebony the offspring can be born darker and if those offspring are bred to another ebony even darker chinchilla babies can result.  When trying to breed for an extra dark ebony you will need to start with large animals and eventually breed back to standards to keep the health, vigor and size in your ebony line.  The ebony gene causes the color to wrap around the body making the belly darker instead of white.

our zippy is held 2 to 3 times a day so he is used to us holding him he will not let us hold him for long tho he gets wiggily & that lets us know it is time to be placed back in the cage also when a chin gets to be around 7 months of age to a year and a half they get hormonal teen agers so you might notice he is not so keen on being held & bites/nips a bit more

we used to give zippy a few hours each night to help him settle down & not keep my son awake at night now that he has a bigger cage we have cut it down to an hour on school nights & 2 on the weekends

my sons chin is in his room which has it own ac I will also get zippy 2 marble slabs to put into the freezer & than put 1 in his cage & keep switching off when 1 gets cold this way zippy can sit on the marble slab to cool off if he needs to

hello this is zippy new cage we just upgraded him he got to big for his old cage.

this is a critter nation cage we got it from amazon great cage loads of room for him to run & jump

easy to put together & clean




I went to walmart & spent about20.00 on fleece to cover all of the plastic shelves I got about 4 yards plenty to do all of the shelves & have some left over

hello my name is Kathy my son has a 7 month old black onyx male chin his name is zippy
zippy was a Christmas gift to my son who is 12 & wanted his own pet.
