Q & A / thinking of purchasing my first chinchilla

I have never owned a chin before and have been doing a bit of research and have a few questions.I inquired through a friend of a friend has chins for sale and i went just to see them was not intending on purchasing them 
. To make a long story short,she had 1 female tan colored and a 4 males(all charcol colored) in one cage 
end up the mother,father,and 3 sons in a dog kennel. Is this ok?
