Okay thanks! I'll wait a week or so to see if he drinks more. The water bottle does work. I think I'm just overreacting a little bit. Thanks for your help!

Hi I'm a new chinchilla owner. I've had my chinchilla for about a day. I'm noticing something weird. He's eating well and he's really friendly with me but I don't think he's drinking his water. Only maybe two or three tablespoons of water is gone. It could have evaporated too. Am I over worried about this? How much should he be drinking? And also if he's not drinking enough, how do I get him to drink more? It's a 16oz glass water bottle by the way. I just don't want him to get sick. Any opinions and ideas would be really helpful. Thanks!

Q & A / Re: Can my chinchilla have a piece of matzos (matzah) cracker
« on: August 24, 2014, 07:42:45 PM »
To be safe I'd probably say no, don't want to take any chances. It probably really wouldn't hurt too much, but make sure you're not feeding her the whole cracker at once, maybe split it into little bits. Also at that age, your chin shouldn't be getting many treats if any at all. I recommend that you just stick with apple wood sticks and alfalfa hay for the first half year of her life. These treats are completely safe and good for your growing chins health. Hope this helped.

Q & A / Traveling Chin

So I'm getting my first chinchilla. He's being fostered about two hours away not to mention the traffic. I want to know if I need to put food and water in his carrier or is he okay for a couple hours? Also I bought a small carrier so that he doesn't get injured in the car, but will he go crazy in that little space for so long?

Cages / Re: Where to buy CN cage liners?

You can always make your liners. That's what I did with my cage. You can attach it with shower rings if you want. It works for my cage even though it's a different one. It's really easy and cheap too!
