 ::Hairraising:: OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jo Ann & Amanda you will be able to relate to this one.   :-[

Last night we were letting Mia show her kits how to take a dust bath for the first time.  It was great fun to watch!  I decided to use a disposable aluminum pan for the kits.  It was a very sturdy one too.  This is something I have never done before.  (I'll never do again either)
 :doh: Well, after they were all done Mike decides to place this pan on top of John John Jr.'s cage.  :doh: 
I had already left the chin room.   ::nono:: I tell EVERYONE in my family that putting stuff on top of a chin cage is a big no no!  :oops:
I go into the chin room this morning and let out a scream as I take the pan from the top of John John Jr.'s cage.   ::scaredspeachless:: There is a huge hole chewed out of the pan and a bunch of tiny ones up the side of the pan.  I was horrified and Mike felt terrible!  I scooped Johnny up and examined him the gave him a papaya cube & a raisin thinking they would help the digestion of this metal?????????  UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!  We got the pure white Carefresh bedding for his tray so I can easily see to monitor his poops now.  What an acrobat this guy is to have actually been able to climb the wire to the top of his cage, hang on AND CHEW!!!!!!!!!  This must have taken him ALL NIGHT.  ::shrug::

I am hoping everything will be OK.  We are keeping a very close eye on him.

::silly:: Hi Joyce,

    I just added the photos you sent me to your post.  John-John, Jr. must have been watching Cotton (our "metal-works" chin) distroy his exercise wheel just before JohnJohn, Jr. came to you.  He probably figured it might taste good as a treat and/or the dust bath dust was just an added bonus!  rofl 

    Chinchillas are just like little children ... very mischievous and constantly looking for something to get into that they are not suppose to have.  :D

    Bet Mike won't leave anything else laying on top of the cages!  :blush2:  Did you check to see if there is any metal in the tray in the bottom of the cage?
   
     Hanging up-side-down chewing is a bit of a feat ... but did you think about what he looked like getting down?  Chins climb up, but can't climb down.

Hahaha that is so funny....yeah my boyfriend learned his lesson by leaving one of his "nice" shirts on top of Bernie's cage....and we all know what happened...he picked up the shirt the next day and realized that it looked like swiss cheese....lol..... :doh:

Ha! I was hanging the fancy new black out curtains in Maggie's room, and her cage was positioned a good ft. from the wall and the curtain hung maybe 7 inches from her cage.

I don't know how because her little arms are so short, but some how she reached the curtain and chewed a sizeable hole. I will never underestimate her abilities ever again.

I had a customer coming over to buy one of my chins the other week and I had printed out his pedegree and left it on top of one of the cages. When I brought the customer into the chin room about tem minutes later the pedegree was half gone.
