Hey everyone:

I got my two new chins Yesterday (I have 6 now). As on right now, I have had them for 24 hours.

They are VERY skittish compared to my other 4 when I first got them.

They are making their distress call more than the others and one of them kacks at me when I open the cage door or walk by - He has stopped doing it when I walk by, but still does it some when I am in cage.


Is it alright to open cage door and move my hand towards them slowly to try and give them a treat or should I wait to try this for another few days?

That's alot of chins =) though one day ill probably have 4 which to much for me already.
Glad you got new chins everyone is different which always neat.

Every chin warms up to his owner different if he doesn't look to stressed hiding etc im sure be ok just a little for now.

I would just open the cage door and hold a treat near the entrance.  The cage is supposed to be the safe haven to a new chin, reaching in might make it a little nervous.  For as skittish as it seems they are acting, I might even let them be for a week, just to acclimated to it's new surroundings.

Take your ques from them, if they see open to a little more interaction, increase it a bit.  I would see if they come to the cage door for a treat 1st.
