Just sharing 3 kits way different in size
« on: June 03, 2013, 10:38:54 AM »

On May 22nd my white violet female Prada gave birth to a white violet male at 52 grams, 1 violet male at 48 grams and one violet female at 41 grams.
She had problems with her single first kit with little milk supply. Her mate got her again just before he died from choking.
I am starting to think there is a problem with one side of her uterus, as the 2 violet kits seem to be premie, while the other is normal.
I have been supplement hand feeding with goats milk a rotating, all that good stuff.
Now at 12 days old the big white one is just over 70 grams, the middle male violet is 50 grams and tiny girl is 40 grams. All lost as mom tried to keep up.
Sharing some pics of the size difference.

Wow, that is a huge size difference!  It does look like a premie.  Perhaps he got her twice and that is a second pregnancy that came too early when the first hit full term.

Yes that would be my best guess too Jamie. You can almost feel it, the 2 violets stick together while the white one seems a bit of a loner. Though he does snuggle the other 2 he really seems more of a big brother.

Awww, they do appear to be preemies. I had preemies born once, and at least for me, I found their fur was like peach fuzz and they were very tiny compared to what I am used to seeing with babies. They were 22 and 24 grams at birth. Luckily they did survive and mom did an excellent job of nursing them. They turned out okay when full grown, but were incredibly tiny the first month of life.
