If you have a chin which does really well at the shows & gets 'Show Champ' & he has a litter brother who is not quite as good as him would you keep them both to breed from to see which produces the better quality kits or would you sell the chin which took the lesser ribbon?
I ask as I have been told  by a few experienced people that sometimes the litter brother to the 'Show Champ' might produce the better kits & wonder if you have experienced that in your litters?

::silly::As brothers, they would probably carry most of the same genes.  I would try both of them before I let either go.

In my esperience that is not always the case. I am aware of a few examples.
A black velvet male that placed first at natl's was placed into breeding. Of all the kits he produced only 1 was GSC and none of the others where of the same quality or produced the same quality. The GSC was placed into breeding and produced 2 gsc 1rgs and 1 third best of show. Yet none of his siblings ever produced near that quality.

Thank you RMC. So would you put both chins into breeding to see what the kits from each were like or would you keep the best chin & sell the brother?
