Does anyone know how much water chins drink?
« on: December 03, 2008, 11:52:16 AM »

I have two baby chins. I change there water once a day. It never looks like they drink much. Do chins just not drink much, or should I be worried?

They usually don't drink a whole lot, although the amount varies from one chin to another.  I would say on average they will drink 1-1.5 oz per day.

I have 3 male young chins, they empty their water bottle daily, 16 ounces.  I have a cage of 5 small, just weaned kits, they also drink 16 ounces of water daily.  My chins drink lots of water.

Wow!  My chins never drink that much!  I wonder why the difference?

I dunno... some of my chins don't drink as much as the others... but it is a full time job keeping water bottles full.

Soon we will be going to an automatic watering system, I can't wait for that!

I bad about estimating oz, but I think they drink about 1 oz a day, maybe 2. I guess they might drink more when they get older. They are about 2 monts old.

In my cages of pairs, they easily drink an 8 ounce bottle of water daily.  I fill them at least once a day, sometimes two.

My chinchillas will go most days not drinking much, but when they decide to drink they can really suck it down

Thanks for the help. I think the most my two chins drink right now is just a few oz. I guess that's normal.
