Crazy Weather
« on: March 02, 2009, 08:50:23 AM »

::silly::    Since this is in the 'general chat' section ... I was just wondering if everyone was having crazy weather this year?

It's been crazy in Virginia.
February 19th (2 weeks ago) I'm at the ocean at Virginia Beach (in shorts) taking pictures of the sunrise at 5 a.m. ...     ::(:

Here it is March 2nd in the Roanoke Valley, VA and we have 6" of snow and it's 14 degrees Fahrenheit ...     ::fruit::

This coming Saturday, March 7th, it's suppose to be 70 degrees Fahrenheit!     8)

:P    Even my chins are giving me this "what's up" look when I turn the heat off to turn the air conditioning on and visa versa every few days.    :D

 ::howdythere::  Jo Ann

Are you having crazy weather?        Is it affecting your chinchillas?

Hi Jo Ann....Yes in SC we are having weird weather too!

We have been having warm days in the mid/low 70's and then this weekend it was rainy and high in the 40's.

My chins don't know what is going on either.  Mostly I have been keeping the heat in their room on 65 degrees.  On the warmer days their room only got up to 68 degrees so I didn't have to cut on the AC, but I was tempted.

I do have a few chins that will move all of their pine shavings to one end of the pan so they can lie on the metal.  They have worked it out to cool themselves if they get warm.   :::grins::

Well it's been nuts here as well.
We had some of the coldest temps in Feb. and now it's raining in the +'s C.
Last week we didn't know where we were going to put any more snow, and now my decks are all snow free again.
We do expect it to turn very cold again and much more snow before it's all over for the year. But this year you just ever know what we will get.

It has been pretty weird here in Nebraska too. It has alternated from temperatures of about 65 to 20 and 6 inches of snow! Just a week ago I was riding my bike in shorts, and now my brother is out playing in the snow!  :::grins::

I livin in Cincinnati, Ohio and we have had crazy weather also. We had a big snow storm in januray and we were only suppoed to get a little bit of snow. We got lots of snow and ice. Last week it was nice and warm, it the 60's and 70's. This week its cold and has a chance of snow again. I don't think this has affected my chins. But i have had two thunder storms and I think they got scared during them.

Within the second day of it snowing it was 70. Last night it was 10 with a wind chill of -15. Tomorrow it is going to be 56..... Well, here in Nebraska, they say if you don't like the weather, just wait a few days!

Well all our snow is gone, though some days it's still pretty darn cold.
Some days have been pretty warm, so while my son and his GF were home for a visit from Alberta last week I came up with the bright idea to show her one of our beaches.
This was her first visit to Newfoundland, and I'm sure she had no intentions on taking a dip in the freezing North Atlantic.
Caught them so off guard, but once she thawed out she too saw the humor in it.
That water is so very cold in the middle of summer, let alone March.

::silly::  We had a few days of nice weather, so I went to pick up some raspberry and blackberry starter plants to set out ... then the temperatures dropped and the rain/sleet mix came.  Maybe I'll get to plant them in a couple of days.    ;D
