Today, olivia was running around my living room and my boyfriend was watching her. He said she went into the kitchen and was in the corner where there are some crumbs and the cabinets are made out of wood. After this he made me come in because he heard a strange cracking noise. i checked her teeth and they were VERY yellow, this is normal right? But while i did this it seemed like she continued to be chewing something and it still sounded like a cracking or popping. Is it possible for her to crack a tooth or her jaw? her teeth looked intact but she was fidgeting alot. i'm worried!

are her teeth yellow or orangish? A chins teeth are supposed to be orangish. They are quite strong. You might have just heard the wood being gnawed on . You have to watch the little buggers they will chew on anything and everything. Chuppers loves dry wall. I learned the hard way . Thankfully I caught it before it was too bad. She also enjoys the door frames .

Yellow to orange is what a healthy chin's teeth are suppose to be.  White teeth in a chinchilla denotes a lack of calcium.

Could it have been more of a grinding, rather than a cracking or popping?

Chinchillas often make a sound that sounds like gritting their teeth ... this is the sound they make when they like what they are eating ... it's sorta a "Thanks, I love this!" from your chin. 

Of course they are known to eat things they should not and still love the taste ... but often it can kill.  A young lady called me when friends of her parents came over and one of them gave her chin a BBQ rib (because he was begging for it) ... the chin loved it and at every bite ... then died in less than 24 hours ... chinchillas are strict vegetarians and can not have meat ... it can kill them ... their systems are not made to digest meat or meat byproducts.   

When you have chinchillas, you have to be very careful that things are not left out or left on the floor ... if a chin finds it, he will taste it and often eat it.  Having a chinchilla is much like having a human toddler ... you have to hide and/or put up everthing!

Do you know what the crumbs were from?

Is it possible for her to crack a tooth or her jaw? her teeth looked intact but she was fidgeting alot.

It is possible for them to crack a tooth, but they are more likely to break a bone instead of crack a tooth.  A cracked tooth usually has to be removed ... it causes complications and pain.
It is possible to break/crack her jaw, but very unlikely!
It is also possible to get something stuck between the teeth.

By "fidgeting allot" ... can you better describe exactly what she was doing?

Yes her teeth were closer to an orangeish color i'd say. The only thing i can imagine the crumbs would be from would be maybe bread, no meat or anything because my dog eats all that up But when i say fidgeting alot i just mean when i tried to check her teeth, my boyfriend held her and she kept moving around, she just didnt think the feeling i'm sure. she seems okay today though
