Finally got my book.
« on: August 12, 2006, 07:41:09 PM »

I finally got the Alice Kline book. I was getting so upset with UPS over my book. It was suppose to be here Monday but they could not find my house even tho they have found it every other time. Anyway I got it Friday and it is a really good chin book. When I ordered it I was scared I would not like it because of the pelting sections but it is really interesting. I feel like I am never going to get to read it all. Most of the books I have on chins a very basic and this 1 goes into a lot of detail.  ::silly::

I got mine from Chin World. I posted on here asking about it and Jamie told me another site that had it but I don't remember now. I got it from ChinWorld because I was quicker, but ChinWorld was more expensive.

Here is the link again to buy the book.  Please don't let the pelting part cause you not to buy it.  Back in her day thats all they knew.  Chinchillas weren't even thought of as pets.  Sort of like a cow or a pig to a meat farmer.  When you get your book just paperclip or tape that chapter together then its out of sight, out of mind!  :)

Keep in mind everything we know about chinchillas today..all of their special care and diet needs... came from the work the pelters did in breeding and caring for them and learning everything they could about what chinchillas need to be happy and healthy in captivity.  ;)

Just remember that if it wasn't for pelting, we probably wouldn't even have our chinnies for pets. They started it all. It's sad to think of the chins that were pelted, but thats how it all started.
One of the ranchers out here had a bunch of chins that were going to be pelted. He's a big softy and didn't really want them to be pelted, so when we went up to his ranch after the chin show, he sold them for $25 to us, there were about 10 of us up there and we all took home at least one of his girls. There was nothing wrong with these chinnies, most were retired breeders, or lines that just hadn't produced for him.
